Why Rock?
Few places pack so much into one view: a sandy estuary that empties and fills with every tide, the dunes of Daymer Bay and Brea Hill, the surf beach at Polzeath around the headland, and Padstow's harbour a short ferry ride away. The tiny church of St Enodoc sits among the dunes on the golf course, and the lanes inland lead to farms and fields with sea views.
That variety is what makes it work for very different weddings: a hotel reception with the estuary below, a marquee in a field above the water, or a small church service followed by a beach-side party.
What to know first
- Summer books early. Saturdays from June to September go a year or more ahead, for venues, suppliers and holiday lets alike.
- The legal ceremony has rules. A legal ceremony on an open beach isn't possible in England. Many couples marry legally elsewhere and hold a celebrant-led ceremony by the sea. How it works.
- Water divides the day. Rock and Padstow are minutes apart by ferry but half an hour by road. Plan the journeys.
- Always have a plan B. The north coast gets Atlantic weather in every season.
