Getting people around is one of the big practical questions for a Rock wedding. Ceremony, reception and accommodation can be close as the crow flies but separated by water, narrow lanes and summer traffic.
Wedding cars
Classic and vintage cars look wonderful on Cornish lanes, but check the route with the hire company. Some older cars dislike steep hills, and some lanes are too narrow for a big car to pass oncoming traffic. Allow extra time in July and August, when the roads around Rock, Polzeath and Wadebridge are at their busiest.
Moving your guests
A hired minibus or coach between the ceremony, reception and main accommodation means nobody has to drive, and nobody gets lost in the lanes after dark. Book the return trips for the end of the night and agree the last pick-up time. Local taxis are limited, especially late on summer Saturdays, so don't rely on guests finding one.
The ferry
The passenger ferry between Rock and Padstow takes a few minutes and makes a lovely part of the day. It also has timetables, tide-dependent landing points and a last crossing, so it isn't a substitute for planned transport. See getting to Rock for the details.
Parking
Parking in Rock is limited and fills quickly in summer. If guests are driving, tell them where to park, and ask your venue or landowner whether a field can be used. At a private-land wedding, a couple of marshals with high-visibility vests make arrival much smoother.

- Have you driven this route before, including any narrow lanes or steep hills?
- What happens if the car breaks down? Do you have a replacement vehicle?
- How long is the hire, and what does waiting time cost?
- For coaches: what size of vehicle can reach the venue, and where will it turn round?
